Enticing, twisted plot, defined characters, deserves its acclaim, however, lots of profanity. Sad, strange, and quixotic but like quicksand it draws one in. An exciting plot and interesting characters. I don't know a lot about surfing, but Gregg Dunnett provided enough information about it that I didn't get confused by the lingo. I did subtract one point because the formatting of the Kindle edition was a bit distracting. I also deducted a point because the ending didn't make sense.
This is a difficult book to comment on because the author has talent. The writing flows easily and although the pacing slows at times, it never gets completely bogged down. It is difficult to discuss what didn't work without creating spoilers, so I will share as much as I can.There are characters in the book who are not killers yet they make plans to kill another person.
