In the year since the Morning Star sailed away from Nantucket, Patience Goodspeed has navigated a ship and outwitted mutineers, but this time she faces her biggest challenge yet: boarding school! Now, instead of mathematics and navigation, Patience is forced to study sewing and French. To make matters worse, Fanny Starbuck, the most empty-headed widow in Nantucket, has shown up in Hawaii and seems to be after Papa's hand in marriage! Not if Patience has anything to say about it!

For ages 8-12. I really enjoyed this fast paced story of an independent 19th century girl. A perfect mix of journal and narrative. I learned some Hawaiian history and language, too. Best of all-- there's some recipes included.Really good, fun read, including info about Hawaii before it was Hawaii. Patience is a spunky teen in the 1800s and both learns and teaches quite a bit in the course of this adventure. I think I need to go back and read the first one!
Fun sequel! I like how Patience rebels against the norms of the day for women, and convinces others to think and act differently, as well. She did not get enough credit for her actions in rescuing the family and crew during the island trip, and that whole scenario was too fast and out of place in its extremity. I liked how the ending wrapped up.

The sequel to the Voyage of Patience Goodspeed.I read this when I was probably 1o, and I've read it a couple times since (because I own it ... and all the books I owned before I discovered historical romance got reread ten times). Anyway, I really loved it as a ten-year-old and an eleven-year-old and a twelve-year-old, but I haven't read it since then, so I'm not really fit to judge it.

Not compelling and adventurous like the Voyage of Patience Goodspeed. Good wholesome story of a young girl, coming of age on the island of Hawaii, staying at a girls Christian missions school.
Was okay. The first one was better, though. I like how it ended.
