Chronicle Concering Books Gethsemane

A friend recommended Skinner's books about the Savior's final week, and I found a copy on Ebay, with all three books compiled into one volume. Perfect! I've been reading them slowly, just a few pages per day, so that I could focus in depth (especially with certain sections) so it's taken my awhile to finish all three books. How fitting that I happened to finish the final book during this Easter week!

These are beautiful books--not quite as profound as Tad Callister's THE INFINITE ATONEMENT, perhaps, but so good and so thought-provoking. They're easily readable for non-scholars such as myself, but they're not fluff by any means. I'm so glad I read all three books and will most likely read them again from time to time.

Assess Appertaining To Books Gethsemane
Andrew C. Skinner did a very good collection of information. I was informed on things that I didn't know and that is always good in a non-fiction type book. I hadn't thought of the term "awestruck" or "surprise" as one of the descriptions that Jesus had when he suffered the sins of the world in Gethsemane. But it made sense when the author brought out some very good points. How else could a perfect being who never experienced sin feel when the sins of the world were upon him. To quote the

My FAVORITE Church book. A marvelous testimony of the power and depth of the Atonement.

I LOVE this book! So easy to read, but so much great information! I understood and had a testimony of the Power of the Atonement, but this book really helped me gain a testimony understand how it applies to me personally!

This was my second try at this book. I think I wasn't in the right place to read it the first time. I wanted to rush through it as I was reading it my second time, but found that taking my time and pondering what I was reading was more valuable. I was supposed to be finished by Easter, but it is now mid-July. I think with the 2 other books I will start around Easter, but take my time with those as well!

This is a short description of what happened in Gethsemane. It is short on conceptual, or philosophical discussion, though it does have some personal application. It has some nice historical quotes explaining basic LDS perspectives on the events in the garden. There was also a chapter on the significance of olive trees.

There are 3 books in this series. Gethsemane, Golgatha and the Garden Tomb. I really enjoyed all three. They are very descriptive and give a detailed description about what it would have been like for the Savior to experience these sufferings. If you are a feeler you will be even more touched by the books.

Andrew C. Skinner compiles a rich collection of information from Ancient Scripture and Modern Day prophets to paint a well charted exploration of the significance of the suffering Christ underwent in Gesthemane's garden. He examines the scope of the atonement's reach as well as the precursing practices to the Lord's great sacrifice. Although most of the content served as a good review, it did include some new insights for me. Of great interest to me was the segment discussing the symbolic links
